Techno veteran Philippe Quenum talks us through the Bubble Gum EP, his debut release for Crosstown Rebels…
Quenum
Bubble Gum EP (Woman Talk About Woman, Bubble Gum, My Baby Face)
Describe the Bubble Gum EP in five words.
It is all only music.
What is it about this record that will appeal to the fans?
I hope to show the fans my different musical horizons, from my background and my experience working in music. I’m not aiming at one particular style of music – I like variety, versatility.
How does it differ from your last release?
My previous release, with Detroit Grand Pubahs, was more on the techno side.
What was the inspiration for this release?
Lately I’ve wanted to work more with vocals, but I can’t say I had a specific inspiration – it’s what came out those days I was in the studio. It’s always a bit of a surprise – you never know where it will take you.
If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?
With these vocals, I think Paradise Garage, ha ha ha…
