Hot on the heels of his debut album Vapour, Patrice Bäumel talks us through Mike Tyson for the increasingly hot Amsterdam label Trouw…
Patrice Bäumel
Mike Tyson (Mike Tyson; The Threat; Mike Tyson – Max Cooper Mix)
Describe the record in five words.
Dynamic, brutal, odd, confusing, mental.
What is it about this record that will appeal to the fans?
The sheer force and sonic uniqueness. It’s definitely going to stand out in any set and is not just another variation on the same theme.
How does it differ from your last release?
The last release was the album, which was much more subtle and designed for listening. This one’s a dancefloor tool.
What was the inspiration for this release?
I always experiment a lot in the studio, let accidents and randomness guide me. Mike Tyson is the result of one of these experiments.
If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?
Fabric, Room 1. Which I already did!
