The producer talks us through his new Mean Streets EP for Adam Shelton and Subb-an’s One Records…
Mean Streets EP (Mean Streets; Done Did; Mean Streets – Chris Carrier Remix; Mean Streets – Sishi Rosch Remix)
Describe the record in five words.
Boom, tsss, khhhh, tsss (repeat)…
What is it about this record that will appeal to the fans?
I think there’s something for everyone on the EP, from straight-up house with an incredible remix from the legendary Chris Carrier to something for the nu-disco guys with a great spin on the lead track from the talented Sishi Rösch.
How does it differ from your last release?
My last release was a collaboration with Mark Fanciulli on Area Remote, so that record had a combined influence of both mine and his tastes. This one was the result of me messing around with ideas on my own until I came up with something I liked.
What was the inspiration for this release?
Nothing major really. Like I said, I just mess about with ideas and sounds until I get a groove going that I like and that would make me want to move. If you’re working on dance music, whatever sub genre it is, and the track doesn’t make you want to dance while you’re working on it, then personally I think it’s time to go back to the drawing board.
If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?
Any club or party where people go to really lose themselves in the music and have a good time for hours and hours… and hours…
