Catz N Dogz – Record Of The Day

Greg Demianczuk and Voitek Taranczuk on Jon Bovi, their new one for Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird…

Catz N Dogz
Jon Bovi (Original, Dirty Version)

Describe the record in five words.
We wanted something totally different… The idea for this record was to make something that sounds like old, slowed-down speed garage, but with new arrangement techniques and new sounds. At the end we decide to make a second version as well, because once you create a good combination of sounds there are plenty of ways to work with it.

What is it about this record that will appeal to the fans?
We were playing this record for weeks before we decided to release it. I think it’s one of the strongest dance records we ever did. The chords in the break plus the vocal from our friend Freddy are what make it work.

How does it differ from your last release?
The sound is totally different. This is our first record since we put a new set-up into the studio. We are really happy because when we compare the sound with the old tracks you can hear the difference straight away.

What was the inspiration for this release?
Lately we’ve been listening to a lot of UK sound – R&S, Hotflush… We wanted to put this sound across but make it sound like house music. It’s a bit crossed genred. The first feedbacks came from house DJs or more UK funky DJs. That was the point.

If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?
Fabric, Room 1.
