The Wagon Repair boss and Cobblestone Jazz member goes solo for his debut album, Agents Of Time

Berlin-based, Canadian-born Mathew Jonson is a difficult producer to pin down. He’s a member of house quartet Cobblestone Jazz, he’s one half of Midnight Operator, a duo with  brother Nathan (aka Hrdvsion), he’s boss of the ever-changing label Wagon Repair, and he’s released tracks for every label from Richie Hawtin’s M-nus to Perlon. He’s also remixed  the Chemical Brothers, Moby, Swayzak and even Nelly Furtado. So when his debut solo album was announced, it was anyone’s guess as to what to expect. The results are stunning though – as you’d expect – so we caught up with Mathew at his home in Berlin to talk about his various projects, the future of Wagon Repair, and music as therapy…

Cobblestone Jazz’s The Modern Deep Quartet is out now on !K7. Agents Of Time is out on Wagon Repair on June 8. Visit www.wagonrepair.ca and www.myspace.com/mathewjonson
