There are some nights that reaffirm your faith in electronic music. This was one of them. EQTV has spent many a happy hour under the strobes at Pressure, but this was definitely one of the best nights we’ve ever had at The Arches. The people responsible for this? Laurent Garnier, Benjamin Rippert and Scan X. Or LBS as they’ve been calling themselves for the past six months as they take their innovative live show on the road. With Benjamin on keys and Laurent and Scan X on machines, they strip apart a load of tracks from Laurent’s back catalogue and play them in a completely new way. Certain tracks become huge, stretching out way beyond their recorded length, morphing and warping into something new. And the amount of energy that the trio bring to this is little short of amazing. But enough talk – here’s the man himself giving us the lowdown on the project, plus some live footage – including the now legendary Gnanmankoudji and a beautifully trancey new track with the working title Hood Shit – from what was a truly astounding set…
