The EQTV cameras catch hotly tipped Nico Jaar protégé Valentin Stip and Glasgow’s own Auntie Flo and Esa in action…

A night of contrasts here, as EQTV heads to this summer’s Nicolas Jaar gig in Glasgow to catch some rightly hyped names in action. Hosted by Highlife – the newish night from promoters Huntleys & Palmers – this party had it all. Of course, Jaar’s live set was the headliner, but arguably more interesting was the rare outing from Nico’s 19-year-old Canadian protégé Valentin Stip. Deep and atmospheric, his set was the perfect counterpoint to the uptempo antics of Huntleys promoter Brian D’Souza – playing out in his Auntie Flo guise – and Sub Club/Sensu spinner Esa, providing live percussion. These two are really starting to make waves just now, with excellent productions to their names, and this double team set-up putting smiles on everyone’s faces. If Flo and Esa are playing near you, don’t miss it…

Highlife returns on November 5, bringing Actress to La Cheetah in Glasgow. Visit www.huntleyspalmers.com, www.auntieflo.in, www.soundcloud.com/rememory_music and www.clownandsunset.com/cs/valentinstip.html
