Tazz talks us through his new EP, Underground, as it helps kickstart Tsuba’s fifth birthday celebrations…
Tazz
Underground (Underground 07, Underground 12)
Describe Underground in five words.
Dancefloor mind @#!#$ full stop.
What is it about this record that will appeal to the fans?
What I like about the record is the straight-up rawness of it – it’s deep, bass heavy and with lots of distortion added for good measure. I added distortion on every channel – made it extra hard for Anton who did the engineering to try keep it clean while leaving the distortion in. That’s what I wanted, but we’re both happy with the outcome. I think this is what others will like about it too.
How does it differ from your last release?
This is definitely a house record. World Of Techno, as the title suggests is a techno record. But they’re both unique in their own ways, remaining underground and edgy.
What was the inspiration for this release?
Underground 07 was a happy mistake. You know, it’s 3am, you’re furiously twisting knobs and shit just happens! Then again that how I always work.
If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?
I hear Fabric has a stomping sound system. Stereo here in Montreal is another good club where the tracks would just knock your socks off, especially in the low end! Why would a DJ want to play on anything less?
